AHIT Recognizes First Honoree in the Meaningful Use Vanguard
Karl Hempel, MD, of Tallahassee Primary Care Associates (TPCA) was recognized December 8th for his leadership in the nationwide transition from paper based patient medical records to Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The recognition ceremony in Tallahassee was conducted and sponsored by AHIT and Allscripts, and hosted by TPCA. The event included representatives from the local health information exchange, the Agency for Health Care Administration, Capital Medical Society, and the media. AHIT is pleased to welcome Dr. Hempel into an exclusive group of national leaders - the Meaningful Use Vanguard (MUV). Dr. Hempel and his fellow providers at TPCA are among the many in AHIT's region of Florida to adopt this technology. MUV is a national program of the Health and Human Services Office of the National Coordinator that is designed to honor clinicians like Dr. Hempel who have successfully implemented EHRs. MUVers (members of the MUV program) serve as local leaders and advisors in the nation's transition toward an electronically-enabled health care system. (More)
