Bond Community Health Center, Inc., a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center, has provided care to the uninsured and underinsured of Tallahassee, Leon County, and surrounding communities since 1984. The mission statement of the organization reflects the daily "marching orders" for each and every BCHC team member:
"To improve the physical, spiritual, psychosocial and psychological well being of the residents of Leon and surrounding communities, by providing access to the highest quality, comprehensive, family health services with particular concern for the lower social-economic groups, regardless of their ability to pay."
Comprehensive primary and preventive care, with supportive, enabling services are provided through the week, with evening hours Monday through Thursday and additional hours each Saturday. Additional continuity of care is made possible through carefully managed referrals and collaborations. Medical and related supplemental services for all life cycles, and special population groups, such as those that are HIV+ or diabetic, include: Adult medicine, Adolescent medicine, Family Planning, Social Work Services, Midwifery Services, Pediatrics, Geriatric Care, Prenatal/Perinatal Care; HIV/AIDS Primary Care (including Counseling and Testing, Case Management, Health Education and Outreach; Basic Lab, Screenings and Medical Evaluations) and participation in a major cancer research study. Volunteer services include a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Geriatrician from Florida State University.
