Our Members

CHCA members, who are Federally Qualified Health Center organizations, currently operate 76 health delivery sites and serve 52% of Florida’s rural areas. In 2009, network members served 281,235 individuals with 1.5 Million encounters, including care to more than 82,000 Medicaid lives, 125,000 uninsured individuals, and nearly 34,0000 Migrant / Seasonal Farm Workers.

Members serve those left out of traditional health systems: the uninsured and underinsured, those living in poverty, and families living in communities that for-profit health centers avoid. Virtually nothing is more critical to these vulnerable populations than the network of community health centers that provide primary, preventive and emergency care. Providing this care to patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay:

• Improves diagnosis of and patient compliance in the treatment of chronic illness; 

• Decreases incidence rates for significant measures of health disparity, such as infant mortality, in the communities served; 

• Reduces the load on emergency facilities and hospital inpatient time, reducing health care costs for all.
